Tenuate is an appetite suppressant used along with diet, exercise, and behavior therapy for the short-term management of obesity.

Appetite suppressants are not a substitute for proper diet. For maximum effects, this must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program.

How to take Diethylproprion (generic Tenuate)
Take on an empty stomach, once daily, 30-60 minutes before breakfast. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed because this drug can be habit forming.

Also, if used for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop this medication without first consulting your doctor. This medication is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks.

Exceeding the recommended dose or taking this medicine for longer than prescribed may cause serious side effects.

Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. Before you begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
