Complementary Medicine
Complementary medicine generally refers to using a non-mainstream approach together with medicine as practiced by holders of M.D. (medical doctor) or D.O. (doctor of osteopathy) degrees and by their allied health professionals such as physical therapists, psychologists, and registered nurses, which are health care professionals collectively known as "conventional" medicine.
“Alternative” medicine refers to using a non-mainstream approach in place of conventional medicine.
